What owners say

From Orca 280 sailors, in their own words.

  • My Orca has sailed. Boy, that cockpit is roomy and relaxing, but I have to stay vigilant — with that powerful sail a big gust may require fast countermeasures.

Common questions

Before you order

  • How long does setup take?

First time: about 2 hours including reading the manual and watching the instructions videos. Once you've done it once or twice: about 20 minutes from bags-on-shore to mast-up — inflation alone is 5–10 minutes of that.

  • Can I sail it solo?

Yes. The Orca 280 is the most compact of the three and a popular choice for solo sailing — mainsail only, lightest rig to set up.

  • Will it fit in my car?

Two bags. The packed boat bag is 100 × 54 × 32 cm (27 kg); the sail-kit bag is 120 × 45 × 17 cm (14 kg). Most estate cars and SUVs swallow both bags in the trunk; a hatchback handles the boat bag with seats down, sail-kit alongside. For motorhomes or caravans, both bags travel comfortably in a storage compartment.

  • What happens if I puncture a tube?

Each Orca has 3 hull chambers plus a separate dropstitch floor chamber — a puncture in one chamber doesn't affect the others, so the boat keeps substantial buoyancy. The repair kit handles a typical small puncture — clean, patch, let dry, re-inflate.

  • Is the warranty international?

Two years inside the EU, one year worldwide, on manufacturing defects. Claims go through info@dinghygo.com; replacement parts ship via our NL distributor, Friesland Watersport (frieslandwatersport.nl).

  • Can I add a motor?

Up to 4.5 kW / 6 hp, with a maximum engine mass of 27 kg. The transom is reinforced for that load. Same limit on all three Orcas — it's the certified maximum on the builder's plate.

  • Is the sail-kit (rig) upgrade-able?

The standard mainsail includes a smart reefing system — pull the reef line and lift the rear boom end to reduce sail area and gain extra headroom. Apply the reef when the wind picks up, no separate kit to buy.

  • How does shipping work?

A DinghyGo Orca package consists of 2 cartons stacked on a 60 × 80 cm pallet (135 cm tall, 65–70 kg total). Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your delivery address.
